She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2010. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2016. Prior to attending law school, Melissa worked as a Paralegal at a law firm in Laramie supporting a wide range of practices including personal injury litigation, estate planning, business law, and criminal and family law. During law school, Melissa returned to the law firm in Laramie to assist with a two-week wrongful death/medical malpractice jury trial in the 20th Judicial District, Boulder County, Colorado. She participated in the College of Law’s Estate Planning Practicum where she drafted trust and estate planning documents for clients. Melissa achieved dean’s honor roll status all three years of law school and was awarded the prestigious Brimmer Scholarship in 2015.Upon graduation from law school, Melissa clerked for the Honorable Justice Kate M. Fox at the Wyoming Supreme Court for a year. Prior to joining Hathaway & Kunz, Melissa spent three years at a large regional firm where her practice primarily focused on energy and natural resource law.Outside of the office, Melissa relishes spending time with her husband and their two children. They enjoy taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Wyoming has to offer. A strong believer in giving back to her community, Melissa currently serves on a local nonprofit board that focuses on ending childhood hunger. |
