| Description | Megan Moody Barcak joined McLeod, Alexander, Powel & Apffel in 2019. Prior to joining the MAPA team, Mrs. Barcak gained valuable legal experience both in her positions as an administrative and legal assistant and during her various internships throughout her law school career, including a clerkship with the Texas First Court of Appeals. Mrs. Barcak’s legal career first began in 2011 when she earned her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. While working as a paralegal, Mrs. Barcak completed her undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Mrs. Barcak continued working in the legal field after graduation and ultimately decided to pursue a law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston, where she graduated, earning her Doctor of Jurisprudence in May of 2019 and was admitted as a member of the State Bar of Texas later that yearDuring her law school career, Mrs. Barcak explored many avenues and aspects of the legal system on a local, as well as on an international scale. She had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Malta, located in the heart of the small Mediterranean county, Malta, as well as in Ireland at the National University of Ireland-Galway. Mrs. Barcak strived to be involved in the student body by working in the school’s Human Trafficking and Asylum Clinic, serving as Secretary of the Women’s Law Society, and as the Managing Editor of the Texas Journal of Business Law, a section of the State Bar of Texas’ legal publication. During her tenure as managing editor, Mrs. Barcak was also able to publish a case note in the publication’s Spring 2019 issue.In her free time, Mrs. Barcak enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, volunteering in the community, and playing volleyball. |
