Description | Kim Ngan Nguyen devotes and maintains an active general civil litigation practice, with a concentration in Family and Domestic law. She handles all aspects of family law, including counseling clients considering prenuptial agreements, complex legal issues of divorce, child custody, support actions, property disputes, and dissolution of business entities related to divorce. In addition to her work representing her clients, Ms. Nguyen is a frequent lecturer at Loyola University College of Law New Orleans and she also lectures on family law topics at continuing professional education seminars.Ms. Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans, her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University College of Law, and also attended the University of Vienna Law School, Vienna, Austria where she studied international law. Upon graduation from Loyola law, she served as a judicial clerk to Hon. Kern A. Reese, Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. During law school, Ms. Nguyen also served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Joseph C. Wilkinson, Jr., Magistrate, United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana. She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2004.Ms. Nguyen has received the distinct honor of being named a Top Lawyer by New Orleans Magazine in the area of Family Law in 2015 and by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star since 2012 and continues to maintain that distinction.Ms. Nguyen is currently a member of the Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association and A.P. Tureaud American Inns of Court where she serves on the Executive Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors and acts as Vice President of Community Relations for the Louisiana Asian Pacific American Bar Association where she is a founding member and also a founding member of The Vietnamese American Bar Association.Aside from her professional affiliations, Ms. Nguyen is a member of the Junior League of New Orleans and currently serves on the Regional Committee of The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She is also a member of the Young Leadership Counsel. |
