| Description | A zealous advocate with a background in family law, Shay Formanek approaches each case with strategic and assertive representation. Ms. Formanek concentrates her practice in all areas of Matrimonial and Family Law. She represents clients who require assistance with complex financial issues, division and valuation of property, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, relocation, spousal maintenance, and preparing and negotiating settlement agreements. In addition, she is adept in preparing Pre and Post-Marital Agreements. As a child of divorced parents herself, Ms. Formanek was particularly drawn to family law at an early age. In light of her first hand knowledge and experience, Ms. Formanek provides her clients with compassionate and individualized support and steadfast representation throughout their case. Ms. Formanek received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While in school, she dedicated her time to clerking in the area of family law, volunteering at the Legal Assistance Foundation’s Divorce Clinic, as well as,working with the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian. Ms. Formanek is also mediation certified through Chicago’s Center for Conflict Resolution, an invaluable skill in the world of divorce and family law. A Wisconsin native and Chicago transplant, Ms. Formanek graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University in North Carolina with a degree in political science. Ms. Formanek is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association. |
