| Description | Mr. Shawn Garner is the managing partner of Deason Garner & Hansen Law Firm. Mr. Garner focuses in the area of Medicaid, Trusts, and Probate. Experience Prior to joining the firm he practiced in the area commercial litigation and bankruptcy law. Mr. Garner joined the firm with the goal of assisting people achieve the peace of mind that comes with knowing their affairs are in order. I enjoy helping clients take advantage of planning so their assets can be managed by those they trust in the event of disability or passed to their heirs and loved ones without the time, expense and headache associated with the probate process. Mr. Garner conducts monthly FREE Estate Planning Seminars to help get the word out about the problems and pitfalls in the Estate Planning area. He also writes a monthly Estate Planning column in The Yuma Sun. He is a frequent speaker at public seminars covering the various aspects of Estate Planning and Long-Term Care benefits available through Medicaid. Mr. Garner is a member of the Arizona State Bar Association, and admitted to practice in the Federal District Court of Arizona. He also participates regularly as a member of the Arizona Medicaid Planning Council; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA); and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA). He is also a VA Accredited Attorney. Education Mr. Garner was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky Law School in 2008. He graduated in the top 1% of his class at Colorado State University when he earned his undergraduate degree with a double major in both Political Science and Criminal Justice. He also holds an Associate’s degree from Arizona Western College. Personal Mr. Garner was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Sandpoint, Idaho. He first moved to Yuma in 2001 where he married Yuma native, Brittany Lundgreen Garner. He and his wife, have six children. He is a sports fan and enjoys camping, mountain biking and boating with his family. In addition to a busy law practice and family life, Mr. Garner is active in his local Boy Scout Troop. |
