DescriptionRick L. Sorensen is a founding member of the firm. His practice emphasizes commercial litigation, construction law, contracts, real estate, liens, family law, and equine law. He is experienced in civil trials, mediation, arbitration, and appeals before the Utah Court of Appeals and Utah Supreme Court, covering a broad spectrum of issues.Rick represents a variety of companies, both large and small, including construction contractors, and subcontractors, among others.Before forming the firm, Rick practiced at Babcock, Scott, Crawley & Price, Nielsen & Senior, and Olsen Skoubye & Nielson.Rick began working in construction in high school for his grandfather’s company, Ted Sorensen & Sons, Inc. He worked for several construction companies as a drywaller, framer, and acoustic ceiling installer. He worked as a construction superintendent and estimator for a San Diego, California acoustic ceiling subcontractor. His last job before working as an attorney was installing the ceilings at the E Center (now the Maverick Center) in West Jordan, Utah.Rick is a national archery champion. He took first place at the National Field Archery Association tournament held at Joliet, Illinois in 1973. He also held a world record in the animal target round.In 1991, Rick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with an emphasis in Russian language from the University of Utah. In 1996, Rick received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Utah College of Law.During law school, Rick was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Contemporary Law. As editor-in-chief, he received an award as The most productive editor-in-chief in the history of the Journal of Contemporary Law.After law school, Rick worked as a law clerk for Honorable Russell W. Bench at the Utah Court of Appeals.Rick is a member of the Utah State Bar Construction Law Section, Dispute Resolution Section, and Family Law Section.Rick grew up in Orem, Utah and spends his free time riding horses, camping, and hiking.
