| Description | Phil, a proud graduate of Eckerd College and Rutgers-Camden Law School, is the Managing Partner of Gelman Gelman Wiskow & McCarthy LLC. He has been practicing law since 1985. Over the last twenty-five (25) years, he has handled hundreds of medical malpractice, products liability and personal injury cases. In his career, he has handled more than a dozen million dollar cases. He has also tried more than one-hundred jury trials, including trials in federal court. While the vast majority of his cases are in New Jersey, he has tried cases in California and Florida, too. Approximately ten (10) years ago, the New Jersey Supreme Court certified him as a Civil Trial Attorney. Less than two percent (2%) of all trial attorneys in New Jersey have earned such a distinction. Phil has also been repeatedly chosen as a ‘Super Lawyer’ by his peers. Less than five percent (5%) of all attorneys earn such a distinction. In 2009, the New Jersey Association for Justice, the largest group of trial attorneys in the State, asked him to brief and argue a case of great public importance before the New Jersey Supreme Court. It was his second appearance before the Supreme Court that year alone. Last year, the American Association of Trial Lawyers, a national association, selected him as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of New Jersey. Phil was born in Jersey City, grew up in Wharton and resides in Bernardsville with his wife, Carey, and five children. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys physical exercise, reading and traveling. He also enjoys most sports, especially fantasy baseball and football, and his beloved Mets and Jets. |
