| Description | Mr. Barranco is a trial lawyer engaged in a general litigation practice. He has more than 32 years of litigation and trial experience in both the state and federal courts, as well as before arbitration panels, on a local and national level. Mr. Barranco is peer review rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He was admitted to the bar of Maryland in December of 1985 and is also admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. The focus of his litigation practice is products liability and general liability defense, banking litigation, commercial and business litigation, and defense of consumer protection disputes. Mr. Barranco represents automotive and other manufacturers and distributors in defense of products liability and consumer protection cases. Mr. Barranco has also represented national, regional and community banks and lenders and other financial institutions. This includes the representation of financial institutions as lead defense counsel in national and regional class action lawsuits involving consumer finance, mortgage financing, leasing issues, UCC issues, financial privacy issues and fraud claims. Mr. Barranco has successfully defended clients in numerous cases involving alleged violations of various provisions of TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FDCPA, FCRA and state law counterparts. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Barranco has counseled and represented clients on issues involving warranty disclosures, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, small business shareholder rights, commercial lease disputes, equipment leasing disputes, employment law, EEOC matters, telecommunications and utility law, zoning and land use law and condominium regime disputes. Mr. Barranco graduated cum laude from Duke University in 1982. He then enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Law where he received his J.D. with honors in 1985. As a law student, he was the recipient of the John S. Strahorn, Jr. Memorial Prize and American Jurisprudence awards for the best work in evidence. Prior to joining The Law Offices of Frank F. Daily in July of 2018, Mr. Barranco was a partner at Treanor Pope & Hughes, where he practiced for twenty years, and was previously associated with the Baltimore law firms of Piper & Marbury (now known as DLA Piper) and Niles Barton & Wilmer, LLP. Mr. Barranco presently serves on the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association and is a past Chair of the Professionalism Committee of the Baltimore County Bar Association. Mr. Barranco has been a faculty member for several years at the Deposition Practice & Procedure course provided by the Maryland Institute of Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL) and Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA),and has taught paralegal studies at the Harford County Community College. |
