| Description | Michael R. Daum counsels employee benefit plans with regard to a variety of legal issues under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. Mike advises Plan Sponsors on drafting and amending plan documents, fiduciary responsibilities, and prohibited transactions, and has negotiated extensive side letter agreements with hedge funds and other large investment firms in connection with Plan investments. In addition, Mike has experience with audits and investigations initiated by the U.S. Department of Labor, and steps a Plan can take to reduce a potentially large penalty.In law school, Mike served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Davis W. McKeague, Judge for the Sixth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals. In addition, Mike was a Notes Editor for the Michigan State Law Review and a member of his school’s arbitration team, competing in national competition. |
