Prior to becoming a lawyer, Matthew was a high school history teacher. While in Law School, he was recognized for his excellence in Family Law by receiving the Deborah Michael Richards Award. He clerked for the Honorable Patricia B. Roe, PJFP. He is a current member of the Executive Board of the Jersey Shore Collaborative Law Group where he previously served as Treasurer and President. Matthew is a member of the Monmouth County Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association. He was a member of the Ocean and Monmouth County Inns of Court. Matthew has been a presenter for NJAPM, NJCLE, and NJSCPA. He has also trained Collaborative practitioners and Mediators. He has been appointed as a Parenting Coordinator and Economic Mediator. Fellow lawyers have also turned to Matthew to arbitrate their disputes. The Court has appointed Matthew as Custodial Receiver for complex financial matters. Matthew develops strong relationships with his clients because of the way he conducts his practice. He has said, Client’s concerns need to be heard and understood by their attorneys. The lawyer must have a deep understanding of the client’s needs and develop a strategy tailored to achieving each client’s goals. Matthew has held true to his roots and remains a lawyer for not only high income clients, but also clients of modest means. He has remarked, One’s financial stature should not change their right to receive zealous representation. Not just another attorney, Abatemarco’s clients trust him to care for their needs and obtain results that will create a positive impact on the rest of their lives.
