Areas of Practice
DescriptionMeg has always had an interest in the law, as her father was an exceptional attorney who deeply cared for his clients, serving their legal needs to the very best of his abilities. Each and every day, Meg strives to do her very best to bring the same passion and skill to her practice that her father ingrained in her. Meg has a seasoned labor and employment law mind, with a bent to practical application of the law. Her experience ranges from employment law scholarship; counseling of employers on all aspects of labor and employment laws; representation of employers before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies; negotiation and drafting of employment agreements; and development and maintenance of affirmative action plans. Additionally, she authors legal materials and teaches seminars both targeted to attorneys and in more employer/employee-friendly formats. Her role at KWW is exclusively dedicated to provide practical human resource counseling services to employers. She helps employers to develop and maintain positive, proactive workplaces. Her practice includes conducting workplace investigations; offering professional development counseling and coaching sessions for managers, supervisors, and employees; and delivering training on topics such as harassment prevention, leave of absence management, employee selection, and much more. Meg has applied her unique blend of HR and legal skills to assist employers in a wide range of challenging projects, including the following recent projects: Serving as an executive coach for a senior leader of an international manufacturing company; Investigating complex allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation for a Fortune 500 company; Providing individual coaching and counseling for a newly-promoted manager of a small manufacturing company who failed to address ongoing concerns of unprofessional behavior by his subordinates; and Training of nearly 400 HR professionals, managers, and supervisors of an organization employing over 250,000 people on the topics of identifying and addressing professionalism and harassment prevention. Meg has over 17 years of private practice exclusively representing employers, and she also has in-house HR and employment law experience. She served as Associate Dean for External Programs for The University of Akron School of Law from 2005 until 2013. She continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member for Akron Law, teaching a course she developed in 2006 entitled The Human Resources Lawyer. In May 2016 and again in May 2019, she received the Outstanding Adjunct Law Faculty Award. Meg is also active in professional service organizations. She has served on the national faculty for the Society for Human Resource Management since 2013. She has always been active in the Akron Bar Association, serving as the president of the Akron Bar for a one-year term that ended in June 2017.
