Joseph Brown (Joe) brings that knowledge and experience to the family law team at Plog & Stein, P.C. Joe joined the family law team at Plog & Stein, P.C. as an associate attorney in 2020 and is primarily based in our Denver Tech Center office. Joe’s legal career has been focused almost exclusively on family law and he is eager to continue representing clients in Denver area divorce, child custody, and child support cases. In addition to new cases, Joe also handles post-decree matters such as parenting time and child support modifications, enforcement of court orders, and more.Joe prides himself on being a no-nonsense practitioner with a keen eye to help his clients navigate this tumultuous process as efficiently as possible. With each case, his ultimate goal is always the end result. To gain to appropriate outcomes for his clients, he employs not only his legal skills and knowledge but also his attention to detail and ability to wade through complex financial matters. He has the ability to connect with his clients about what they are going through while still maintaining the objective perspective necessary to properly advocate for his clients’ best interests and working to alleviate the stress that a divorce or child custody case can bring.Prior to coming to Plog & Stein, P.C., Joe gained experience working for other family law firms in the Denver area. He has also authored an article on family law issues which was published in the Denver Bar Association’s distinguished Docket magazine. Having had Joe on the other side of a few cases, we knew his level of professionalism and that he would be a good fit for our team. Being based in our DTC office, Joe’s caseload primarily entails cases in the Douglas, Arapahoe, Denver, and Jefferson County district courts. However, Joe has litigated cases throughout the state and is ready to travel anywhere in Colorado to represent his clients.Joe grew up on a farm in rural Kansas and attended Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies. He obtained his juris doctor degree in Michigan. During law school, Joe earned various honors, including making the Dean’s List and Honor Roll each term. He also earned top marks in many classes, including civil procedure and legal writing. His exemplary performance earned him a full-tuition academic scholarship throughout law school. Electing to further his legal knowledge base, Joe went on to obtain his L.L.M. (legal Master’s Degree) in taxation. This gives him a unique ability among family lawyers to help his clients avoid the pitfalls that many others don’t see coming with respect to some of the tax ramifications in a divorce and the ability to deal with complex marital estates.Joe is an avid baseball enthusiast, and although his playing days are behind him, his love of the game leads him to volunteer as a Little League Baseball coach. Among his other charitable activities, he has also volunteered in the pro-se Family Law Clinics in both Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. Like so many of us, Joe saw the allure of Colorado and chose to move here upon completing his legal studies. During the work week, Joe’s professional life is dedicated to the practice of family law. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, watching and coaching baseball, and cooking almost anything on the barbecue. |
