He is a 1984 graduate of Siena College and a 1987 graduate from Albany Law School of Union University. Mr. VanDenburgh is admitted to practice in New York State Courts, United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, United States District Court for the Western District of New York and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Law Section), the New York State Bar Association (Insurance, Negligence, Compensation Law & Employment Law Sections), New York State Trial Lawyers Association, Capital District Trial Lawyer’s Association, Federal Court Bar Association, Schenectady County Bar Association and the Albany County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Transportation Lawyer’s Association, the Council on Litigation Management and a Member of the Board of Directors of Eagle International Associates Inc. (An International Network of Defense Attorneys and Claims Adjusters). Mr. VanDenburgh is Panel Counsel to, and a Risk Management Presenter for, the New York State Dental Society and frequently lectures Dental and Medical Societies on issues of risk management, employment practices and liability limitation. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and Past President and past member of the Board of the Defense Research Institute of Northeastern New York. Mr. VanDenburgh has published articles on trial tactics, witness preparation and the Doctrine of Informed Consent.He has received Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent peer review rating, the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards. John has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of New York’s Best Lawyers in the field of plaintiff’s personal injury and as an Upstate New York Super Lawyer in the area of personal injury and medical malpractice defense.Mr. VanDenburgh handles a wide range of cases including, construction law & accident claims, medical & dental malpractice defense, products liability actions, motor carrier litigation, environmental claims, premises liability, general accident claims, insurance coverage issues and other professional malpractice actions and civil rights actions. He represents clients in the prosecution and defense of discrimination and employment law claims, D & O and E & O claims. He has obtained significant monetary awards in Federal Court, arbitrations and before the EEOC & New York State Division of Human Rights for clients in discrimination claims and employment contract matters. He has also successfully represented insurance brokers in E & O claims, Not for Profit Boards in D & O claims and private sector employers in litigation and administrative proceedings. Mr. VanDenburgh has lectured at various bar association and insurance group meetings concerning issues of legal ethics, general tort liability, employment law, including sexual harassment and age discrimination, wrongful death, indemnity & coverage claims, dram shop liability and municipal tort liability. John also represents medical and dental professionals in licensing and professional disciplinary matters and with respect to employment law issues related to their practice. |
