| Description | Mr. Kawashima graduated from Punahou School, received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Mr. Kawashima received recognition for best oral argument in University of San Francisco School of Law’s moot court competition in 1992. He has also received the highest Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review AV rating and was recognized one of the Best Lawyers in Hawaii in 2013. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Kawashima clerked for the Honorable Riki May Amano in the Third Circuit Court, State of Hawaii, assisting with jury and jury waived trials. Mr. Kawashima then joined Ning, Lilly & Jones for the next 13 years where he was made a partner in the firm and concentrated his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, trust litigation and representing Taft-Hartley trust funds. Mr. Kawashima is licensed to practice law in the State of Hawaii and in the U.S. District Court, District of Hawaii. He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, the Hawaii Estate Planning Council and the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association. Mr. Kawashima also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bankruptcy Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association (2001-2003); was a Commissioner on the City & County of Honolulu Charter Commission (2005-2007); was a member of the American Liver Foundation Hawaii Chapter Board of Directors (2005-2007); and was a member of the Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee (2007-2008). He is also a Fellow in ACTEC. |
