| Description | Ellen Doty joined the firm in March 2018. A tenacious advocate with a passion for defending the rights of the accused in both criminal and licensing cases, Ms. Doty’s practice focuses on criminal and licensing defense and administrative law. Ms. Doty earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2017 and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis in 2014 with a double major of women’s studies and English. At Berkeley Law, Ms. Doty participated in internships, externships, and clinics related to criminal defense and other defense work. She has worked as a law clerk at the Solano County, Contra Costa County, and Marin County Offices of the Public Defender. Ms. Doty also worked as a law student advocate at the East Bay Community Law Center’s Consumer Justice Clinic, which assists low-income clients with debt-collection defense, identity theft, and other consumer issues. During her third year of law school, Ms. Doty participated in Berkeley Law’s Death Penalty Clinic, which assists clients in all stages of capital representation. Ms. Doty was also a senior articles editor for the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law, which publishes scholarly articles on a variety of criminal law topics. Most recently, Ms. Doty worked as a volunteer attorney for the Yolo County Office of the Public Defender through Berkeley Law’s Bridge Fellowship program, where she represented clients as part of the office’s misdemeanor team. |
