He attended Kansas State University and the University of Kansas, where he earned a B.A. in 1987, and was awarded a J.D. in 1991 from the University of Kansas School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in Kansas in 1991.Derrick joined Arthur-Green in 1991. He has 20 years of experience with commercial finance and banking, working with financial institutions to establish complex credits, participations, and syndications, as well as collections and foreclosure. He is also experienced as a civil litigator in personal injury defense, property law, and construction cases. Derrick advises many business clients on employment law compliance, risk management counseling, and structuring transactions. He has been managing partner of the firm since 1997. Derrick has been actively involved in several professional, community and civic organizations, and is currently serving on the KBA Ethics Grievance Committee; 21st District Judicial Nominating Commission; Riley County Law Library, Trustee; FUMC Foundation, Trustee; Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Director; and Kansas State Rifle Association Foundation, Director.Derrick is a member of the Business and Corporate; Banking and Creditor Rights; Employment; General Trial Practice; and Real Estate practice groups |
