In addition, he represents clients in civil litigation including commercial litigation, personal injury, and tort liability claims.Dan J. McLamb was born in Benson, North Carolina in 1949. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971 and also attended the UNC School of Law, graduating with honors in 1974.While in law school, Mr. McLamb represented the school on its National Moot Court team at the National Final Rounds in 1973-74.After practicing as a partner at the Raleigh-based law firms of Manning, Fulton & Skinner and Young, Moore, Henderson & Alvis, Mr. McLamb became one of the founding partners of Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P., and now serves as Senior Counsel to the firm.Mr. McLamb’s practice is focused on commercial litigation and professional liability defense. He represents businesses, physicians, hospitals, and attorneys throughout North Carolina and has spoken at numerous litigation and professionalism seminars, as well as to health care providers on medical/legal issues.Mr. McLamb is a member of the American, North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, and the International Association of Trial Attorneys.For 2014, Mr. McLamb has been named Lawyer of the Year for Raleigh in the category Professional Malpractice Law Defendants by Best Lawyers and U.S. News and World Report. He has been included in the list of Best Lawyers for the past 18 consecutive years and this is his fourth time receiving recognition as Lawyer of the Year. Mr. McLamb was voted as one of Business North Carolina magazine’s Legal Elite from 2001 2007. In 2007, he received the magazine’s top honor in the category of Litigation and has been included in the magazine’s Litigation Hall of Fame since that time. He has also been recognized as one of North Carolina’s Top 10 lawyers by North Carolina Super Lawyers since 2007. In 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2013 he was the top point recipient of all attorneys in North Carolina in all practice areas. Since 2007, Chambers USA, published by Chamber & Partners, a leader in legal guides worldwide, has named Mr. McLamb one of the top three health care litigators in North Carolina and described him as tenacious, prepared and enduring, and one of the finest litigators that North Carolina has ever produced.Mr. McLamb is married to his law partner, Barbara B. (Bonnie) Weyher, and they have four sons.
