A Miami native, Annette received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Organization from the University of Miami in December 2007 earning various accolades, including President’s Honor Roll, Provost’s Honor Roll, and Dean’s List.Annette subsequently attended Florida State University College of Law where, during her internship with the Department of Children and Families Children’s Legal Services, she drafted the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children in Spanish for Puerto Rico to adopt into law. She also participated in drafting the Spanish translation of the Florida Constitution, which was presented to Attorney General Pam Bondi.Annette began her career as an attorney at Children’s Legal Services, where she prosecuted cases of abuse, abandonment, and neglect against the children of Miami-Dade County. She subsequently entered private practice primarily representing banks and businesses in commercial litigation matters in both state and federal court. During her time in private practice, Annette handled a variety of case types, including divorces, mortgage foreclosures, breaches of contract, and fraud.In 2013, desirous of serving the public again, she returned to Children’s Legal Services as a senior prosecutor. Annette won 13 termination of parental rights trial and 7 dependency trials, receiving only one unfavorable verdict in her entire career as a prosecutor.Annette entered private practice again in 2016 in the field of family law. Annette is Of Counsel for Vasquez de Lara Law Group as well as principal attorney for her own firm and handles a variety of cases including, but not limited to, domestic violence, dependency, child support, paternity, dissolution of marriage, and adoption. |
