| Description | Amelia represents clients in a wide variety of civil cases concentrating the majority of her practice in personal injury, auto liability, product and premises liability matters. In her career, she has had experience handling complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation, as well as cases involving slip and falls, abuse, neglect, and traditional medical malpractice in nursing homes, personal care and assisted living centers in both Kentucky and Ohio.Amelia defends claims involving commercial litigation and employment-related disputes. She has defended organizations in employment breach of non-compete agreements and tortious interference claims. Additionally, Amelia has provided legal counsel to her clients with regard to a variety of business transactions. She also spends a portion of her practice representing clients in Fraud/Special Investigative Unit (SIU) matters, handling claims involving insurance fraud as well as conducting Examinations Under Oath (EUO).Amelia is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky. She is a member of the, Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio Women’s, West Shore, and Kentucky Bar Associations, and is active in the Women in Law section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where she serves as the 2015-2016 Chair of the Section. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1992 from Western Kentucky University, Amelia worked in a variety of businesses at various levels before steering her career toward her true calling, the law. In pursuit of her ultimate goal, she worked for a time at the Kentucky Court of Appeals and later for an insurance defense firm before beginning her studies at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. During her studies, Amelia interned for a Kentucky state appellate judge and also worked as a full-time law clerk at a mid-sized law firm. Amelia received her juris doctorate in 2011.Before moving to Ohio with her husband in 2012, she worked at a medium-sized firm in Louisville, Kentucky, practicing in several legal fields including complex bankruptcy litigation, premises liability, and general litigation.
